Ken,
If you snapped your tail shaft, check your motor mounts. That is
indicative of front to back movement of the motor and trans. Very
common with motors mounted with front elephant ears.
A front to back torque strap will stop future breaking if you
have that issue.

Weak link may be driver, I snapped the rear trany case in half when my
NOS fired again going through the traps at 105mph in my 63 wagon . Thank
goodness for the drive shaft loop.those things kept a dancing driveshaft
from digging in.
