No I can't, because the FSM doesn't show a pic of the now notorious "roller
sleeve bar end."
I can send you a pic of my '58 DeSoto with the deck lid in various states of
elevation, with a caption "eat your heart out," if that would help...
There is a general pic of the "rear deck torsion bar hinge mechanism,"
[Fig.8] showing a round "bushing" with a slot in the center into which the
bar end is inserted.
Also a general pic of "adjusting the torsion bars" with "tool" [C-3449]
[Fig.9]
Just a wild guess here, but wouldn't lubriplating the bar end reduce the
friction and increase the torsion to the deck lid hinge? In other words,
it's the weight of the deck lid on the hinges that causes the lid to drop,
and the counterforce of the torsion bars which causes the lid to rise.
Can you get your spray can of lubriplate and spray the "roller sleeve bar
end?" I'm ass-u-me-ing it's the end opposite of the torsion bar adjustment.

That suggestion, about lubing the "roller sleeve bar end" is not in the
57 FSM (probably because REPLACING the T/bars was not contemplated,
during the 1957 MY.
That said, I wonder about how/WHY the re- "lubing of the roller sleeve
bar end is required".
That area/piece may be the rotating cups, on the
hinge-upright/supports.
At any rate (TOO- much) lubrication is not a problem; my limp deck could
use some MORE
restriction/resistance; not less friction!
Could you PM me, or the List, here, a page-view of that lube-job????
