[FWDLK] Rusty Engine Parts / VIN Numbers

  Greetings.....  I have a question.....

       What is the best way to clean and prep engine parts like valve covers
and air cleaners that have surface rust? Do I soak them in something before
attempting to sand? And if so what?  What is the best way to be sure rust
doesn't come back?

    If anyone has any books that decode VIN tags for ALL 1950's cars, could
