Hi list,
Just a note to all of you about the disk brake system
for the 55. I noticed in the pictures of the 55 that
had the disks on it, that the front end looked like a
newer style A-frame. I would say that he cut the
frame and replaced the front half with a sub frame.
This would be the easiest up date to do on these cars.
I have done this to a 46 olds and have made two
frames from scratch, early model furd pu. Sub framing
these old cars can be a real job. Judging from the
bearing hubs on the conversion it must of been a
larger vehicle size. Another way this can be done is
by finding a hub that will except the older size wheel
bearings. Street Rodders do this with the Dodge
rotors on the 38-41 furd wishbone axles. The
hydraulic part is easy. I also noticed that there are
some company's that are making C-body brake set ups in
Street Rodder magazines. I don't know if they make
the early imperial sets. The 55 and 56 are becoming
very popular with the hot rod crowed. It won't be
long.
