Hi Paul
I guess I'm just kind of a car girl. My dad used to be a mechanic, ane
he taught me a lot about cars. People think it's a little strange,
but oh well, that's their problem :-)
I wired the neutral safty switch completly out of the system on my
Imperial, because it was causing me some problems too. I don't mind
being able to start it in gear, but that would scare some people. My
starter died this summer too, so I got one off of a 5th avenue with a
318. It's the same starter.
They are not hard to change, just two bolts.

I also have a '68 Crown Convertible, but currently it isn't running. I
believe that I have narrowed it down to the starter motor. Also, the
neutral safety switch is fowling up. I do get a "clack" down at the
starter solinoid if I pull on the gear selector while it is in "Park"
and hold the key in the start position.
