Phil, on my green sedan, the gage is "bad". What I mean is it hardly moves
regardless. Yet, the alternator is certainly charging, since it starts the car
fine. It quit working many years ago. Your post may still have some truth
though, I guess it depends what type of malfunction does the gage suffer from.
