Bob, I'd love pics of yours... done or in process. What colors is yours?
I am in need of front floors, both sides, rear quarters, and a repair to
the trunk. The car has rust in those spots. Besides that it's complete
and just needs freshening of the leather and carpets, and a new coat of
paint. A rechrome on the front bumper wouldn't hurt either. I've used
Leatherique on two other cars and plan to use it on this one as well. I
won't be able to buy a parts car and cut it up.... no room to keep it and
unskilled in rust repair. I will most likely have to pay a premium to have
someone else find the cut the parts from a junker and install them.
Fortunately I'm in Austin and there a several rust free '67's in parts
yards around here. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any of them
that will cut out sheetmetal.
The car arrives within the next 2 weeks and I get to park it in the garage
for a month til I can get to it. In the meantime I'll do a tuneup and get
the power window motors working... all have failed, so it is most likely
the relay instead. If I do end up needing a rebuild on any of the motors,
there's a great place that I've used before here in Austin. Might just
need the couplings replaced too.... don't know til I get power to them.
The seats are not functioning either... that's why I suspect the relays.
The dash is good, carpets could use freshening, but the pile is still
great. Leather is good, but could use a cleaning and conditioning. The
top is original and in excellent shape, but could probably use something to
soften the vinyl. I can do all of those tinkering things for a while...
at least until I get past the hole I made in my checking account when I
bought the car. Then I can put some money into it by getting the rust
repaired and a paint job. I've been hit by this "downturn in the economy",
but couldn't pass on the great deal I got on this beauty. I'll start
looking for a rust repair guy/shop here in Austin this week.
Thanks,
Greg
