IML: California Imperial Clubs?

Last I heard, both clubs wanted to have no contact with the
IML. When I was a "care-taker" for the Southern California club, I
cross-promoted both the SC club and the IML and thought all was fine,
but a later president was very suspicious of everything coming from
the Internet. For this and a few other reasons, I dropped out of the SC club.
I was very disappointed when I went to the statewide meet in Solvang
a few years ago - the actual Imperial car display seemed hidden at
the back of the hotel and I wasn't much aware of any "public" coming
by to look at the cars. This was a great contrast to a Datsun/Nissan
event in town the same day - on the main streets of the town. The
event in Thousand Oaks was similarly uninspired.
I heard Bakersfield was chosen as a venue because of some problems
with Pasadena, a first choice. No offense to Bakersfield, but I
can't recall any annual show in Los Angeles county, with perhaps
hundreds of great choices. If the WPC can have a national event in
Burbank, what is the problem?
I'd like to hear current information about why the California clubs
don't have greater contact with the IML.
BTW, there are GREAT car events almost every spring/summer/fall
weekend around Los Angeles and I'll have my '66 LeBaron at a few
(assuming cooperative gas prices).

Okay, but what about the regional clubs for Imperial. We have two in
CA, North and South, and we gather yearly for a statewide meet, this
year in Bakersfield, 4/24 to 4/27. Usually we have around 40 plus cars
and have a great time together. I do wonder if all of the CA IMLers
show up with their cars at club events and at the Statewide Meet. Seems
to me there might be a disconnect between participating on the computer
and participating in events with our cars. Aren't there more than 40
Imperial owners in California who might show off their cars? Or are
Imperials really that rare???? And what about other states and club
gatherings? Where are the IMperials???
