Gee, I haven't had that happen, but perhaps the frame member is further 
back on the '65 Imperial.

An odd thing that did happen was when the transmission mount failed, 
the transmission would flip flop back and forth going around corners. I 
didn't know what as going on until the engine mount failed, and we 
found all of it at the same time. On the earlier cars with the rod type 
throttle linkage (1963 and older), transmission mount failure will 
result in a throbbing sensation in the accelerator pedal while 
traveling over a bumpy road.

  Something else that regularly occurs in this circumstance with B/RB 
cars is that you hit a bump and the oil filter smashes on the frame 
crossmember right under it. All the oil pours out (often w/o smoke), 
very bad.
