High quality and excessive attention to detail, I guess!

So I've investigated this a bit more and have found that the notch is
actually a separate piece attached to the inside of the frame by two
small screws. My intention is to remove these and fill the screw holes
with solder or silver epoxy. If I ever decide to rechrome my frames I
think the conversion will be pretty darn close to factory.
Now I was wondering how the Imp engineers did this back then. Did they
fill the screw holes prior to chroming the frames for the power vent
frames. Or perhaps they retooled and cast two separate types of frames.
The later was probably what they did since it seems that reducing costs
through uniformity was not high on their priority list.
I cite this as my example. The almost imperceptible and yet decidedly
incompatible left and right difference found in the back up lenses for
the 60-62. Certainly this piece could have been the same for both
sides. But it's not. Why?

I'm upgrading to power vents on my '62. I've obtained the motors and
switches. Can I convert my manual ones over or do I need to get the
power vent windows too? I see there is a large pin at the base. Is it
different on the power vent window? Say with perhaps a slot for the
drive from the motor?
thanks,
Dave
