There are a bunch of us that knew what was wrong with that car, but
probably not in as much detail. I don't have a '59, but I can spot
things that are incorrect on restorations of cars that match the years
I own. Becasue of that, I look for those little things in every car I
see.
I still think that the teal '59 was pretty. The color combination was
fabulous, even though not original. Maybe not worth the big bucks, and
maybe got sold to someone poor little rich soul who thinks its
original, but oh well. I think that if you want to purchase a car and
autheniticity is your bag, then you can only blame yourself if you
don't get what you want. There are plenty of easily accessible sources
of correct information about nearly any car made. Imperials are not as
common, so it is easier to get stung. Not so with Mustangs and '57
Chevys. The more popular the car the more folks are familiar with what
is right.
On that particular '59, I am darn sure that I saw it on Ebay recently,
and even though it was done with some artisitic expression, I wouldn't
be ashamed to own it. That is even though authenticity IS my bag.

Imperialists, especially Chris,
Should my desire for a '59 ever come about, there will only be the
second call [after the first to the seller for pictures], to Chris
asking him if these pictures sent to him make the car
worthy............well-chronicled and forthright analysis, I only hope
the owner (a Hughes of some kind in his own right....) is in it for the
looks and NOT the authenticity....thank you for enlightening us
all.....BTW Chris, you are NOT invited to view my '56 until I win the
lottery...........heaven [and you] will make me further authenticate
what I did not know wasn't right......LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL..... once again,
thank you for the Imperialist's view of the car.......
