I don't have a '66, but I am pretty sure that the 1965 and 1966 are
exactly the same. 1965 was the first year that the rear drums slide off
over the studs mounted on the axle flange. I am 100% sure that LeBaron
is the same a Crown in all years. '63 and '64 are similar to '65, but
still have the tapered axles on the rear. 1956 through 1962 are center
plane type with 1956 having narrower shoes and drums.

Hi All...since we are kicking around info on brake drums, can one of
you experts
tell me which other years will also fit my '66 LeBaron, and are ALL
1966
IMPERIAL brake drums the same (meaning is there a difference between
the CROWN
and LeBaron drums?)
Thanks all!!! Hope you are staying nice and warm in this crazy cold
weather!!!Here in Beaumont, CA in southern California it is reading 23
degrees
right now (12:33am Sunday).......I think southern Cal just got moved to
the
Twilight Zone!!

I don't have a '66, but I do have a '65 and many others. None of them
have flared brake drums w/cooling fins on them. I believe that the
brakes on 1965 and 1966 are identical. There may be a '66 shop manual
on the OIC Web site.

I may be mistaken about the '66 Crown having flared brake drums. I was
under the impression that they were the style that flared out,
overlapping the backing plate with what looks like cooling fins on the
flared portion like they were on the back of my '67 Dodge Monaco 500.
However someone emailed me saying that the drums on the Crown are not
flared but just have a small ridge around the inside circumference. If
that's the case my car may have the original style drums on it. Can
anyone verify this or better yet have a picture of what the stock drums
look like?
Thanks
Brad
