Speedometer Repair (was Re: IML: 64 speedo)

May I share something I found years ago troubleshooting an intermittent
speedometer. It was on my brother's 59. Sometimes it worked just fine
and sometimes it didn't.
The 59 has the rotating drum indicator (I think they used this design
through 66 if my faltering memory serves me). It turned out that the
paper-like wrap that goes around the drum had come unglued on one
corner. It was just enough to keep the drum from rotating some of the
time. I simply glued the paper down and there was no more trouble.
To fix this you must remove and partially disassemble the speedometer.
Removing it is always the challenge - disassembling it is not.
