My '84 Lebaron has intermittent gas gauge problems, as well as the
digital dash. I'd wager that you have the same problem as I do
with the sender going out. My gauge will tend to go from full (at
full tank) to half, then 3/4 (before it's even to 3/4 tank) and read
somewhat normally, then drop to empty and work it's way back up to 1/2
(when it's at 1/2 tank) and then work it's way back to 1/4 by the time
the tank is bone dry. I'm not entirely sure what's going on with
the sender, but it's definitely bad. (I'm just too lazy to
actually pull the tank and spend the money on a new one.)
My guess is that yours had an intermittent hiccup, and that you'll
probably be just fine. If you want to be super-paranoid, you can
probably still get a sender unit from Chrysler, I can't imagine them
changing them much over those years.

solid. This is my first ever intermittent problem with one. I'm hoping it
