I have used an outfit called Gas Tank Renu (800-997-3688).  They are a
franchise that have shops in many places.  Used them on my rusted out
and leaking 67 imp tank.  They cleaned, welded in new metal, lined tank
both inside and outside.  This along with a new retaining ring/gasket
and new rubber connector for the fill pipe ran me $250.00.   The tank is
warranted for as long as I own the car.

two out in the back yard just for this purpose.  ;o)

OK, seriously, though, many radiator repair shops will
also dunk gas tanks into the cleaning vat, effectively
"boiling" it out.  The shop near where I live will do
so for less than $100.
