Joe, it should be possible to heat the lens(warm-hot water), this would make the lense more plastic, and resist cracking. Dave.

The replacement lenses were quite expensive and I don't want to run the risk of cracking them while installing them.  The person who I bought them from years ago has passed away, so he is no longer around to ask any questions of.
