Gear reduction starters don't fit 1960 unless the car has been
retro-fitted with the '62 or newer style engine and transmission.

@Gary and Dave: is this the correct starter for the "old" RB series
engines 59-62) ?
I am also looking for a 1960 starter, and 440source doesn't have them
for the old RB bigblock engines.
Thanks,
Robert

The universal number is Lester 3257-1.5 HP, or 3258-1.8 HP, both are
gear reduction starters. Dave

You can buy the high torque starter from Napa just be asking for a high
torque starter. It is about 1/2" shorter that the normal starter. If
you can not find one let me know and I can pick one up.
