my 54 has the small brake drum at the rear of the
transmission. the shoes are a little glazed but have
sufficient lining. the problem is that if i go in
drive the shoes seem to be grabbing the drum and
forward movement is held back. if i give it more gas
the car will jerk forward and you can smell the
linings burning. the funny part is reverse is fine. i
backed off the star wheel and it will drive fine but
then you have virtually no parking brake.there seems
to be no happy medium, if the park brake works, you
cannot drive it and if you adjust it so it will drive
there is no park brake. i am going to put new shoes on
but somehow i do not think
the problem is that simple. all the other parts loook
good from what i can see. can the drum be out of round
and how would you even determine that? can these drums
be cut? any help would be appreciated as i cannot use
the car until this is solved. dennis, 53 imperial,
54 windsor convertible
