I have a 65 belvedere that was painted when I bought it. The I D tag was attached to the door jam with 2 chrome shoulder screws. Does any one have a photo that shows how this tag is attached and where I could get the correct rivets to reattach it the way it should be? When I went to register it the DMV checked really close to make sure it wasn't stolen. I had to take the rear package tray out so they could check the number stamped there with the vin. Every thing checked out but I would like to look lit it came from the factory. Thanks.
There should be no screws or welding. The plate is glued to the "A" pillar and the two holes are used for alignment. Many times the DMV people aren't schooled in old Mopars and they expect to see rivets there like the later models have. Sometimes its a real pain in the arse to educate them too.
