Steve,
My tank had been replaced on my car and when I took it off there was
nothing in between the tank & body. Pretty sure there should be
something there. I put something in between when I re-installed it but
can't remember right now exactly what it was. Seems like roofing felt
would be a good material to use. You need something that won't rot too
quickly and provides some cushioning. I may have used some of the thin
styrofoam that is used for shipping. Just can't remember for sure. I'd
blame it on age but my memory never did work very well!
