Is there any dis-advantage to using the thinner head gasket? . On my engine
build plan, I was thinking to use the thinner gasket and if to much
compression, install the thicker one---does this make
sense?........................MO

The Felpro normally used is about .042 compressed. There is a shim gasket
(from Felpro or Mopar?) that is somewhere around 25-30 thousands thick. I
used that one in my last head gasket change out.
You can do a Google search for engine math sites out there where you can
work on what compression you have. You can try the two gasket thickness' to
determine whyat the different compression ratios will be. You'll need to
find out the CCs of your heads or use the published values (and hope they
are close to what you have.)

hi all
thanks for tips on old car insurance.
question for all the mopar gear heads.
what would be the best and (thinnest) head gasket that could be used.
i'm running stock max wedge heads on a 440 bored .030 over piston"s flat
tops--they are .125 below deck
im thinking stock gaskets are about .050 thick untill compressed--not to
sure what they are when compressed.
any thoughts.
