I let the machine shop assemble my early Hemi shortblock as it would be
under warrantee if he did the assembly.. In checking his work after I got it
home, I discovered that he had used one of the cam advance-retard marks
instead of the correct timeing marks on the timeing chain gears. .
Wouoldn't that be fun trying to diagnose why the engine wouldn't run right?

Subject: Cam Question
Hi and Happy Thanksgiving to all. My 63 Dodge MW Clone (440 block) has
never
run correctly, always started well but it seemed the engine wasn't all
there
even though it was firing on 8. Tore into it this week for a cam change
and
found that the timing marks were 180 out on the cam gear, the marks were
aligned with the dot at top position of both the crank and cam gears at
TDC. I
would have thought that with the marks aligned as such the car wouldn't
even
run. Anyone ever experience this and were your symptoms the same. Any
thoughts
would be appreciated. Thanks

PS I did not build this motor, it came in the car!
