Hi Harry,
With your engine fully warmed up and the choke off, take the linkage off of 
your carburetor. Adjust the threaded portion so that with the transmission 
lever pulled all the way forward, you are just able to slip the linkage onto 
the carburetor pin. In other words the pin will be resting against the rear 
section of your slotted rod. Make sure your spring is hooked up to hold it 
there. When you open your throttle it should move the transmission lever 
backward to it's stop. You can fine tune the linkage a little-just remember 
the longer the rod, the higher the shift points. Most people think this 
linkage is just for kick down action but it is very important for up 
shifting the transmission also.
