I guess the Poly engine is not "virtually all Mopar V-8's" as we made 425HP
w/tuning out of our .090" overbore 318 Poly.

Sounds reasonable. As pointed out by Don and Earl here, too. Thanks guys.
Below is what I was thinking of that I read, advice by Rick Ehrenberg:
"There's absolutely nothing wrong with this [413] engine, but there's also
no particular reason to use it. It weighs basically the same as a 440, and
you're giving up 27 cubes. And, no, it can't be bored to 440 cubes - at
least without weakening the cylinder walls significantly. And, as we've
tried to hammer home repeatedly, having strong, straight, and round
cylinder walls, that the rings can successfully seal against, will make
more HP than having another few inches of displacement - every time! The
maximum recommended overbore for virtually all Mopar V-8s is 0.040", but
if the bores will clean up at 0.020" - stop!"

There is no date on that Web page, so who knows when it was put up.
Perhaps his argument really was for "strong, straight, and round cylinder
walls" and so he de-emphasized the boring.
Thanks,
Gary H.

They said 0.060 was OK all day long on all B / RB blocks. If I figure
correctly about 0.062 + /- is the difference in the 413 & 440 bore.
Should
be no problem?? I have bored B / RB blocks out 0.063 and more for
clearance
with NO problems. Maybe I was just real lucky but the article seems to
back
me up. Just my II.
