As I said I was camped at the top end of the track and was just coming out 
of the camper when it happened so I didn't see what happened with the car 
that ran before. However my 2 buddies where down at the start line and said 
they could see smoke up at the finish line. They said the 2 starters looked 
at each other, shrugged their shoulders and sent the next cars off. I find 
it curious that there was no mention of this or what actually caused the 
accident in the MCG article. I wonder if they were asked or told to keep 
their mouth shut about these details for legal reasons.
