I was wondering if the carrier on my tapered axle would work to put my
3:23 gears in so I'd have a highway set-up for my new 489 rear. I think
the tapered rear is a 742. I'll look and check it out later. I'd like to
have a spare 3:23 sure-grip and the carrier would run about $450 if I
wanted it ready to go so I wouldn't have to swap out the ring & pinion.
Just wondering.
If it won't work I'll sell my old rear-end complete. It'd be a good deal
for someone in need as it's in good shape with all new brakes including
all hardware and drums.
