426 lifter ticking

I have a 426 65 street wedge that has a lifter ticking for a few minutes 
cold.  Is Marvel Mystery Oil a good additive to free the valve i.e does 
the stuff really work?   This is an original 65K engine that I don't 
believe has ever been gone through.
