Thought I would pass along an experience in case anyone is interested or
happens not to have heard of this ... I won't have my feelings hurt if
you tell me I am stating the obvious :)
When I rebuilt my front suspension I ended up with a considerable gap
between the shoulder on the back side of the lower control arm pin and
the K frame (only on the left side ... for some reason the right side
was fine). I installed a pair of adjustable strut rods from Firm Feel
(http:/www.firmfeel.com) and am very pleased with the results.
Other than not liking the way it looked (call me anal), the Firm Feel
folks claim that this cures an effect of this condition known as
"floating toe," where the toe varies as the pin moves through the K
frame while the car is in motion, under load from turns, etc.
By the way, I had heard that the gap is sometimes caused by a bent
control arm, but I checked mine out and it and, at least visually, it
seems to be OK.
