This springs Engine Masters magazine has a neat article by Steve Dulcich on
the effects of compression ration to engine output. Used a .030 over 440
with a 230/238 degree cam.
Compression HP TQ
11 to 1 500 531
10 to 1 483 518
9 to 1 460 505
8 to 1 440 486
Looks like each point of compression is worth about 20 HP. Steve used
Milodon soft copper headgaskets and had them stacked 1/4" to get the motor from 11
down to 8 to one. Joe
