Just an added note to Gary's response. An automatic trans will lessen the
felt torque loss to a greater degree than a manual trans due to its torque
multiplication from the converter. This will be most pronounced during initial
take off from a stop, and somewhat less when pulling a hill at lower rpm's.
Once the motor is up on the cam a little (1200 - 1500 rpm) any felt torque
loss will be minimal. Whew... lotta 50 cent words from a dumb kid from Jersey!
