Very Cool!!!!
I have two 1964-65 long tail shaft A833s; one is from a B-body the other is
from a C-body. The mount pad is wider (and so is the spacing of the two
bolt holes) on the C-body unit, and I think its located --fore/aft wise--
in a different place, but I can't remember for certain.
However, the "fore/aft" pad location change that might have bit you in your
swap was the change made around 1969 when the mount pad moved on the
longtail shaft A833 (B/C-body). prior to this change B-bodies had two
crossmembers: one crossmember for A833s, and another one for everything
else (generally called an "Automatic" crossmember, it was also the crossmember
for A-903s and A-745s too). After the change in mid-year 1969, the same
crossmember was used for all trannies. For a brief period of time in
1969, New Process made a long tailshaft with *both* pad provisions while
the change over was in effect.
