I just read an article on an electronic push button shifter put out by Moon 
Eyes (www.mooneyes.com) Pretty sweet set up for a non-factory installation.  
It's called a Smart Shift.  Does away with linkage, costs about 600 and installs 
in about an hour.  It's worth a look.  Joe
