Re: {Chrysler 300} 64 heater box seal

Use the butyl rope seal they use for windshields. Take some out and roll it in your hands to about 1/8-3/16" diameter and press it all around the case lip. Bolt up and go. Be sure and dont leave any gaps and go around the outside of bolt holes and keep it continuous and it will work fine.

Can I ask what is the prevailing wisdom on sealing up the heater box and core? The manual says use mastic!

The radiator shop that re-cored the heater just gooped up both surfaces to get by. The original gasket was under it all but useless.

I have a new foam seal; does this need any other sealant other than something holding it to the core? Nothing of the foam surface?

I am guessing that some thin strip caulk will suffice between the core and the housing? I scraped out some old yellow crud under there.
