Re: {Chrysler 300} Power windows

Safety wise, you are saying the same thing as I did.
I have to insist on NO Vice Grips as they can unlock with violent results. It has happened and is why I take the few minutes to bolt them instead. I'm sure you have never had a problem using them, but it only has to happen once to be very painful.
I have serviced many motors and regulators in my cars and trucks over the years in the distant past, but not in the earlier years. My experience
is 1965 L and up. Many Dodge trucks also have the same motor in them and I've worked on several of them. My '79 Li'l Red Express had power windows and they were the same as my "L".
I had many motors stored away for parts and repairs and they were sourced from many years and models. They all had CPDD embossed on the gear housing, so they seem to go back to DeSoto's. The newer ones had some improvements made in the evolution as time went on.
Be safe, Ray

Just my two cents.

Disclaimer: I’m only familiar with 55-59 power window assemblies.

Do NOT try to remove the motor from the regulator assembly while they are installed in the door or quarter panel. You can and will injure yourself if you try. Instead, remove glass stops, glass, then motor/regulator assembly via opening in lower section of door or quarter. Once this assembly is on the bench, lock the large, spring-driven gear in place with a vice grip or a plain old vice. Only then should you remove the three bolts that hold the motor in place. I’ve done the power windows on my 55 Desoto and 59 Dodge, as well as removed many assemblies from junk yard cars. So I’ve been down this road a few times.
