300ers:
Hi again! This is Part 1 of what I envision will be a 6 part series on what to expect for our meet. Today I will discuss the area where you will be staying: The Town of Amherst and its Village of Williamsville.
1) The Town of Amherst is the major northeast suburb of Buffalo.. Our hotel is located along the Transit Road (NY 78) Corridor on the eastern town border. This area features more plazas than I can name, a mall, restaurants, bars, and other stores including clothing, jewelry, and yes, auto parts. If you are the type that likes to get to the meet and stay in the area, you will find everything you need within a 2 mile radius. Our meet hotel sits on a hill and is secluded enough that our cars will not be readily visible to the public. And we are located only 5 miles (12 minutes) northeast of the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport. Our Saturday car show is located only a mile from the hotel at Transitowne Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram.
Speaking of our Meet hotel, I visited it yesterday and the complete remodel it has been undergoing is about 85% complete. They are shooting for the 4th of July for completion. Everything including the lobby, rooms, furniture and mattresses are new. A nice little bonus!
2) Main Street (NY 5), Village of Williamsville (west of Transit Road): If you want a quaint walkable village, try this area on for size. Just 3 miles from the hotel, you can park your car and walk around the high-end shops, boutiques, restaurants, and bars. Certain recommendations are out there for Britesmith Brewing, a converted 1800's blacksmith shop with outdoor seating adjacent to Ellicott Creek. There is a trail adjacent to Ellicott Creek that leads to Glen Park.
Watch for my next update (on Food), and get your registrations to Noel!
