When I lived in Bensenville, IL in the fall of 1976 when I worked at the “Regency Hyatt House” (as it was called in those days) in Rosemont, I bought a black 300H from Carl Reierson in Wisconsin for $800. It didn’t have the dual quads but was otherwise a complete and correct car. Carl had an enormous building with many Letter cars including at least one Carl Kiekhafer C300/300B as well as a cinnamon 300G that Carl said belonged to Mr.K that was his personal car.
The reason for my trip up to see George was that My car was missing a set of the correct wheelcovers and George had a set listed in one of the club bulletins (May have been “Brute Force”.) Anyway, I drove up there and visited with him for a few hours and saw his red 300H convertible and that’s how I first learned of “Leatherique”. I also bought the wheelcovers 😁
It was several years after my visit that George and his buddy bought this car.

Following these listserver comments re the sole P-a-M 4-speed 300-F convertible - reminding me of stories our friend Joe Jordan has shared with me and fellow members about his experiences with this 4-speed F convertible, including his going with George Cone to pick it up in Wisconsin on a snowy winter night. Joe's said that he likely drove this car more under George's watch than George did. I unfortunately joined our 300 Club after George had passed, so never had the honor of meeting him, but did meet his son a few years ago at our local MCACN show near O'Hare.
Send in your Registration Form and join us at our Buffalo Meet. Joe will join us there for the official unveiling of his twin Paxton supercharged 413 Andy Granatelli Tribute 300-F coupe. You'll have the incredible opportunity to see and hear Joe's remarkable Tribute F, but also to visit with him and listen to his many stories about this F convertible, that 82-yr-old Joe Aluise currently appears to be marketing.

Eye candy fer sure! I may have posted these photos sometime in the past on the listserver, but maybe for benefit of newer members, here is the car as it appeared in 1982 when I first saw it and it was owned by Bruce Hoover and George Cone in Illinois. This was at the AACA show at Allstate Insurance headquarters in Deerfield, IL on June 5, 1982. They had a Chrysler 300 letter car class. My dad took the photos using slide film. The car was consigned for sale to Volo Museum not long after; I think the asking price was around $16,000. Top dollar then believe it or not, laughable now. Times have changed, inflation has taken its bite, and the car became valuable.
