I believe the sound deadener insulation is intended to dampen internal engine noise. Certainly Chrysler would have eliminated it to save money if it didn’t accomplish something.

What are opinions on using the insulation between the intake manifold and the valley pan? 

Most seem to end up missing, like mine did with only a remnant remaining.
