Hi John. Yes that lube point behind the dash works.  Excellent picture!  My 61 Newport 200 thousand miles on car, Speedo started making noise and erratic fluctuations many years ago.  I disconnected it about 10 years ago.   I changed speedometer cable and it did not help.   Jeff at JC Auto suggested to oil that lube point.  I did it and drove car much better but still had some issues. After a week I oiled it again and let it sit a week l. Been driving the car two plus years trouble free.  Good luck!   Peter 61 Stick

The lube point is just aft of the speedometer cable connection:

You don’t have to remove the speedometer or take anything apart to get oil in there but it is a little tight working behind the dash from below.  May need to do it by feel.

Any thoughts on lubricating an intermittent speedometer cable? Every once in awhile I hear a hum/buzz coming from the dash.  Goes away under 25 MPH.
