I was at the preview of the auction Saturday and the car looked great, their estimate was $250-275K, so the bidding must have gotten intense if it hammered at 400K!

Just for grins I called Gooding Auction to see if the listing price
on their site was correct. It is $400,000 plus the 10% $40,000 is the
actual selling price. I also asked if they had a pre sale listing
index like Mecum and they do not. You can do a search for a Chrysler
300 and see what pops up, but they do not provide a index of upcoming
auctions except when the catalog is printed. Interesting news. Still
don't know whodunit yet. John...
