I purchased a set of eaton springs through the club years ago. John Hertog spec'd them out to be a few lbs/in heavier than original but at the stock ride height. I can't say I'm thrilled with them. Perhaps if I was still 23 years old and it was still 1990 when I bought my K I'd be less sensitive to the harsher ride. The springs are cosmetically different than originals. The leaves are flat/smooth whereas originals have almost a recess running the length. With the addition of a 500ci engine and 5 speed stick I believe the decision to replace with new was the right one as who knows what 600 ft/lbs of torque would do to the original fatigued parts. Having said that, for a vehicle that's original, not towing, hauling or raced regularly I'd stick with the factory springs. Simply rearch to factory specs. Consider having them add a single extra full length leaf for a little extra assist and longevity.
If they're heavily pitted you may want to find a cleaner set to rebuild. When you find a local spring shop to handle the rebuild have them arched but not assembled. Take them home, glass bead, then give them a dusting of a self etch primer from a rattle can, then shoot them with seymore stainless steel. Have the shop assemble them then install. They'll look beautiful for another generation. For a more concourse correct look, glass bead, then treat with a gun bluing kit. It will give the leaves a more tempered / heat treated look.
Still dying for new Eaton replacements? I could probably be talked out of mine.
