Ray and all
Add a new contact in your address book with a series of exclamation marks
"!!!!!!!!!!!!'. Computers recognize this character first and will enter at
top of your address book. If you are hacked, the !!!!!!!!!! marks are not
recognized as a address book and not enter your list.
I learned this many years ago have never been hacked. There is no down side
to do this, you have nothing to loose.
Thank you,
Gary, the parts doc

Subject: My e-mail may have been hacked yesterday
One person in my address book has notified me that they received a
message appearing to be from me on Monday, May 19, that also showed the
e-mail addresses of dozens of other recipients, was blank in the subject
line and contained only a link to some unknown website. So, it looks
like some bastard has somehow been able to get into my address book and
send out his crap.
I am sorry if you, too, received a bogus e-mail appearing to be from me,
so please let me know if this happened to you also. If this bogus BS
has affected several others, I will have to go into my e-mail account
and change my password -- it's inconvenient, but usually stops this crap.
And of course, please do NOT click on any link in a message with a blank
subject line or is something you would not ordinarily expect me to be
talking about, or where the content is primarily a link to some
unfamiliar website, or where your name appears along with many other
addressees. I don't usually send the same message to multiple
recipients, but whenver I do, it is virtually always by the "bcc" route
(like this message right now) so you see only your own name on the
addressee line, but no others. (sometimes it shows "undisclosed
recipients")
