Tony,
Yes there is and electro-magnet that holds the lever in the chosen fixed position until the steering column switch is tripped, interupting the circuit canceling the signal. or your manual overide.

Hi Group,
Do the electromagnets engage and hold the switch in the left or right position until the cancel switch breaks the current to the electromagnet and the lever go back to the neutral position?
OR
Does the switch mechanically hold the left or right position until the electromagnet pulls it back to center?
