Trailer I have now is not a car hauler.
A 16' enclosed, nice cargo van with ramp door, side door, dual 3500 lb axles
with 6-ply trailer tires.
It's a 2005 Cargo Mate. I use it to haul dirt bikes and ATVs, furniture and
car parts.
Daily I use it as the garage for my '84 Goldwing Standard!
So we went to AZ in June from TX, 1100 miles one-way.
I get a blow-out, changed tire, fixed tire.
Then the next tire blows and in the process, since it was the rear wheel,
tears the fender off and sends it sown the highway.
Now I buy 3 more tires on the road (prior to an 180 desert hwy stretch) and
I'm out $370 so far and I still need a fender.
These tires were 5 years old from the factory.
In '04 through -'06 I had a 26' enclosed car hauler. It weighed 7200 lbs
empty. Needed 10-ply tires.
Forget about the spare, extra spares and get 4 new correct tires every 4-5
years.

One feature of trailer tires, tires marked "ST", is that the tire rubber
compounds contain extra chemicals to resist weather cracking!
