Mark,
The one time I tarped a car, the paint on the horizontal surfaces
blistered underneath. I can only presume it was from trapped
moisture. Could you buy one of those inexpensive car shelters to put
over the car in your patio?

Might also consider plugging the exhaust pipes. I have heard
stories, hard to believe stories, that mice can make their way up to
the engine and nest in the chamber, slipping through open valves.
