'56 did have a rear speaker option but as far as amplifier, I don't think so as original speakers weren't very good and would probably self destruct with an amp. The multipin hole in the back of the T&C radio would be for the Highway HiFi pigtail to plug into to get power and play through the speaker(s). I'm not sure how the rear speaker was wired in order to work. That is the only electrical connection to make the HiFi play.

There indeed was a foot operated button for signal seeking on the '56? signal seeker? T&C radio.? I have a funny story about that when dating my future wife in my '56 NYer Convert that has that feature.

Hello to the letter car Audiophiles!



I am looking for some info on the original Rear speaker set up for a 56,

57 and 58 Chrysler radio.



In my 58 Car behind the rear seat is an integrated provision for the

mounting of what looks like an original amplifier? For the multiple

speaker set up. Can any body give me the run down on this unit? Was a

similar one used in 56 cars also? I am guessing that the 922 radio only

had the rear speaker option. Not much info on this in the manuals.



Here's hoping somebody would really love to give me all the juicy

details on this.



My '56 had original Hi Way Hi Fi. The radio has multi pin provision for

rear speaker. Did this use this type of amp?  Did the 56 have foot

actuated search tune as well?
