--on the subject of "feel", how tightly should the rockers grab the feeler gauge? Should the feeler be coated with oil for each measure?
Are "stepped" ("go, no-go") gauges the way to go?

intention of the tool is to take some of the skill/feel out of adjusting
valves. This I think it does quite well and also in measuring absolute
travel does factor out one significant wear point; rocker arm tip wear. We
use electronically measured dwell to set ignition points for some of the
same reasons.
