In response to #3:
I just received in the mail a few days ago a catalog called " the
Chrysler Gallery, No. 1". There are a lot of really nice things that
you can purchase from this catalog. Two of the items are a 1942
Chrysler Town & Country and a 1957 300 C 1:24 scale die-cast cars.
These are both Danbury Mint cars.
There are many nice black and white pictures of Chrysler Corp.
cars, including a 1941 Newport, 1941 Thunderbolt interior and some
people working in the Chrysler Design Studio in 1940. I did find an
error in the caption of one of the pictures. On page 10 of this catalog
it shows a picture of a 300 F conv. The caption reads: " Only 248
Chrysler 300F convertibles were built in 1961". I always thought the
300 F was built in 1960.
Has anyone else received this catalog and noticed this? I am not
sure if Chrysler is doing this catalog or if this is an outside company
offering these items for sale with the Chrysler logo on them. It would
be nice to see accurate information on Chrysler vehicles, especially the
letter cars.
I think the two die-cast cars mentioned above are still available
from Danbury Mint.
300ly,
Gil Boucher

Phil,
If you can still find one, a point file is a good way to brighten up the
points on an engine that hasn't been started for some time. They used to
be available at any parts store but since electronic ignition, they are
hard to find. Something that works very well, as a temporary fix is to use
the corner of a business card between the contacts to polish them on an
engine you are trying to start after extended storage. There is no chance
of sandpaper grit dropping into the distributer and causing future
problems, just be sure the paper isn't stuck between the points and
preventing contact when you are done.
The first thing I do is remove the distributer cap and rotor and give a
squirt of WD40 on the pin the points pivot on and also the felt in the
center of the top of the distributor shaft to make sure everything is
free, and then pry the points apart far enough to get the corner of the
card in and make sure the points grip the card, then move it to polish the
points. You should see gray carbon marks showing it is cleaning the
contacts. I use several corners until the card doesn't show gray which
means the points are polished. If the card comes out torn your points
probably are pitted and should be replaced, but usually this will do a
good enough job to establish a spark.

Good Morning y'all,
I saw a 300F on auction with the following VIN number: 8403144790. Gloria,
is this a new found 300 or do we already have info on this vehicle? Does
anyone know what the large hole in the inner right fender is for? I do not
ever remember seeing a hole like that. It appears to be 4 to5 inches in
diameter and it looks like it has rubber around its edge. I know that it
is
on eBay but I am rather curious about the hole.

Hi Charlie and all of you,
The F on Ebay is a new VIN. Send us any info you receive about the car
like
owner, address, history, etc. And if you discover what the hole in the
fender is for, I think we're all curious.

Gloria and all....
That hole appears to be the inner fender part that has been removed.
Looks like one of the same pieces that Gre Groom has for auction on Ebay
at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10076&
item=2404271300
Does anyone agree???
