I received the following message and am passing it on. I could be in error
but I think the parts listed here are the small version that were used on
non-letter cars. RCM

I'm a member from Western Colo. I have a 300K. The part for sale is a
complete NAPA Universal joint rebuild kit. The NAPA number is 205R and
is
for '64 Chryslers (maybe others). I'm asking $85 and I'll ship it.
This
kit is new in box and includes the housing. I also have a near new
rubber
boot for the same application for $25 and I'll ship.

Subject: '57 torqueflight - needed
Hi & happy Monday. Yet more beggar's mail.
I'm hoping to find a good used or rebuilt '57 or '58 cast iron t-flight
automatic transmission for my '57.
My local rebuild shops don't sound real confident that their 16-year-old
employees could do a good job rebuilding a core...so I'm hoping to find
one ready to go. I've had no luck sourcing locally, so the search
expands!
Philippe Courant is probably out of the question; but I guess shipping
cost will be of issue from distant states too...
What's the easiest/best way? U-haul or Yellow Freight or ?
Thanks & have a great week.

Check with car haulers. My son is having an engine hauled from Missouri
to
California, and the trucker said he would put it in the back of a pickup
he
was hauling.

Subject: Brake question
Hey all,
Wondering if anyone feels like chiming in on a brake
question...
On my '66 300, I have the standard one line from the
master cylinder system that then branches out to the
individual wheels. I've suddenly got the willies about
a brake failure- if anywhere in the system springs a
leak, then all the brakes fail. Anyhow, I'm wondering
if there's a relatively easy way to partition the
system so if, say, the back brakes fail, the front
don't, or vice versa.
Anyone have any ideas?
As always, thanks for the advice.
300ly,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,
Two ways to go :
1/ replace ALL of your steel lines and brake hoses. You'll be good for at
least another 20 years.
or
2/ install a dual master cylinder and split off the system by removing the
distribution block and replacing it with one from a later year, split
system.
You don't unfortunately mention whether your 66 has disc brakes or not .
If
it does not, you might want to consider replacing the front drum setup
with
a disc setup out of a later ( 70 thru 73 ) Chrysler . All you have to do
is
find a suitable donor car in a junyard and take EVERYTHING from it - the
master, the two lines that go down from master to proportioning valve, the
lines from that to the front brakes, the spindle assemblies ; it is a
bolt-on job.
If your 300 does NOT have disc brakes, and you just want to split up the
system, find a drum brake car, again in a junkyard, and get the master
cylinder and the two brake lines and the distribution block .
The difference between drum/drum cars and disc/drum cars is that the
latter
use a proportioning valve, and the former a distribution block.
Either way, it's an easy swap on the '66 300
John

Hi to all,
I am ready to accept orders for the reproduction '61 taillight lenses. I
have had 30 pairs made, and I do expect to sell them out based on your
requests. Whether I have another batch made will depend on the demand once
the initial run sells out. At this time I have no idea whether another
batch will be made.
Price is $225 per pair including gaskets, and $20 insured shipping and
handling PER ORDER . Therefore, total for one pair = $245.00 ; total for
TWO pairs = $470.00, total for THREE pairs = $695.00 , etc.
Please e-mail me your orders, stating QUANTITY ( how many pairs ) AND ALSO
NAME AND ADDRESS TO SHIP TO .
Please DO NOT send me money. Orders shipped to you "on approval ". Once
you receive your order, if the lenses meet with your expectations, then
send me a check or pay thru Paypal. Bill will be enclosed. Lenses are
guaranteed for one year against defects in materials or workmanship.
I will ship out the lenses in the order by which your requests are
received, until they sell out. Again, no promises that more will be
made.
Thank you,
John

Subject: AACA National Winter Meet - Sarasota FL
Hello fellow list server users
The Chrysler 300 Letter cars were well represented Saturday at the AACA
National Winter Meet in Sarasota, FL. Out of 4 MOPAR High Performance
cars registered for judging in Class 36C, two were 300 Letter cars.
Congratulations go to Mike Meyer's 300H Convertible and our 1961 300 G
Coupe as I understand both of our cars qualified for First Place (Junior)
awards.
Class 36C is a new class specially designed to promote and encourage
participation by 300 Letter car owners in AACA judged events.

Subject: Re: Brake question
Jonathan,
My 66/300 originally had 4-wheel drum brakes with 14" wheels. I took a
complete front disc setup off a '70 New Yorker including spindles,
porportioning valve and front brake lines. They essentially bolted right
in.
Like John Hertog says in his message, the distribution block has to be
abandoned. I got a dual master cylinder from NAPA and bolted it right to
the
old booster. It took a little fiddling with the brake pushrod to get it to
the right length (it's adjustable), so as not to block the compensating
port
in the master cylinder. The rotors are too large to fit into 14" wheels,
so
I had to get a set of 15-inchers.
If you want to stay with drum brakes, you could use the front lines and
porportioning valve from a donor car, or bend your own lines and use an
after-market porportioning valve on the line that goes to the rear.
Jack
